Modelling materials (part 2)

Each painter workshop is not only a paints, but many other useful chemicals. This article is a continuation of the previous material and describe in the next few, basic products that I use.

Glue for plastic scale models produced by several companies such as Revell, WAMOD, Tamiya. I use the cheapest version of the tube vissible on photo. To ensure accurate to apply adhesive to the figure, you can remove the cap and apply the needle from the syringe at the tip.  In this way we obtain the same applicator as on expensive version of the package.

Let me here on a small private think. I know at least some of those involved in miniatures hobbies and wargaming that use only one type of glue - SuperGlue (cyanoacrylate adhesive). There was nothing wron with these, but people use Super Glue for bonding all types of materials including plastic figurines. Cyanoacrylate glue has certain advantages for gluing metal figurines (I personally try to especially with large models using glue Poxipol) but for a reason they invented the adhesive for plastic. His difference with the SuperGlue is significant - it dissolves the bonding surface of the plastic and after gluing, combines them into practice ideal whole. There are, after all special adhesives for wood, rubber, leather, glass, polystyrene, etc. .. SuperGlue is not a "cure" for everything. The conclusion is as follows - we use the proper adhesive to the material that we want to glue. But this of course is just my personal opinion, with which you disagree.

Decal Fix - Humbrol

Decal softener (Decal Fix) HUMBROL company is one of many this type of sealer on the market. The great popularity and positive feedback is also clearly a product of Vallejo Decal Fix (73.213). It is necessary for imposing decals on figure and for the larger models. It makes you stick decals are not visible to the edges on the surface of the model.

The purpose of this specyfic is softening the decal which allows it to impose a fine on the surfaces in depressions, ridges, etc. This allows the decal surface can be precisely adapted to the surface to which it is put. This eliminates not in any way its edges - you can have such an impression, because in general, all decals, including, of course, and its banks, much better adhesion to the surface on which it is affixed. I think most of the specifics on the market is MicroSol.

Pigments - VALLEJO

Pigments, also produced by several companies, and most popular are MIG and Vallejo. I use them for a technique called weathering. It consists in short of granting figurines real appearance by applying pigments that it looked such as dusty or muddy.

Matt Medium - VALLEJO
Matt Medium Vallejo (70.540), wymieszany z farbą zwiększa jej płynność i przejrzystość. Zwiększa przyczepność farby do powierzchni.

Medium Matt Vallejo (70 540), mixed with the paint increases its smoothness and transparency. Increases the adhesion to the surface. Not yellow and does not change the color tone. It can also be used as a binder of dry pigment.

Glaze medium - VALLEJO
Glaze Medium, Vallejo (70.596), bezbarwne medium, które jest używane do mieszania z farbami akrylowymi, Poprawia płynność, zwiększa przejrzystość i spowalnia czas schnięcia. Idealny do cieniowania, rozjaśniania, jak i pracy z pigmentami. Przykład użycia w czasie rozjasniania figurki możesz znaleźć w artykule  How to paint Forest Goblin Shaman?

Glaze Medium, Vallejo (70 596), colorless medium which is used for mixing with acrylic paints, improves fluidity, increases transparency and slows drying time. Ideal for coloring, bleaching, and work with the pigments. Example usage figures during bleaching can be found in the article How to Paint Forest Goblin Shaman?

Liquid Green Stuff - Games Workshop
Liquid Green Stuff, firmy Games Workshop to "szpachlówka w płynie".

Liquid Green Stuff, a company Games Workshop is a "putty in the fluid." It is ideal for filling small gaps in the mini (eg, holes in the air bubbles in models made of resin). Because it is soluble in water can change its texture and use a regular brush for application. Then, before dry, we can for example, smooth with damp brush. After drying can be machined (eg, ground), but do not hardened as much as an ordinary Green Stuff or other two-component mass of this type.
