How to use the real dust on the base?

In this simple and short tutorial I'll show you how to use the real dust on the base to the figures. In addition, it will create the spider webs using the methods of the guys from Massive Voodoo.

The idea to use real dirt I got while working on a scale 54mm figure of The Usurper. By design, the throne on which Conan sits be in the old dusty dungeons.

Na pomysł użycia prawdziwego kurzu wpadłem w czasie pracy nad figurką w skali 54mm The Usurper.

This is what we will need to perform the effect of dust and dirt on the base is primarily several shades of pigment. I used pigments of AK-Interactive, but you can use any other that you have in your workshop.

You will also need a means to consolidate pigments. I used  AK048 Pigment Fixer because it is the best means of what I had so far contacted.

Well, the last most important "ingredient" that will be needed is a real dust. Even hard taking care of the cleanliness of your home will definitely find a little dust on the closet, behind the couch, etc.

No i ostatni najważniejszy "składnik", który będzie potrzebny to prawdziwy kurz.

Steps done only after complete painting stand. Put on the base pigments (the same way as in this tutorial How to make a base stone?) in 2 shades. I focused on places where dust and dirt that can accumulate in the real situation. Then all I thoroughly covering the entire surface by AK048 Pigment Fixer.

before Pigment Fixer dry you put on a real dust particles with tweezers. Pigment Fixer has a relatively long drying time. You can speed up this process, eg by placing the stand on the warm radiator (if it happens to be winter and we have them on in the house).

You have to admit that at this point it does not look too good. Let us, however, that Pigment Fixer dry and return to work on the stand best the next day.

Pozwólmy jednak, żeby Pigment Fixer wysechł i powróćmy do pracy nad podstawka najlepiej następnego dnia.

The next day, when the fixer dry and pigments have taken their respective colors, glued prepared sooner skull and arms to stand. Now, to further make look old stand and get the atmosphere of the old dungeons created a website according to the guys from Massive Voodoo: Creating realistic Spider Webs. The Creation cobwebs for me is amazing but totally uncontrolled. Hence, all my work place was covered with cobwebs :)

Następnego dnia kiedy utrwalacz wysechł, a pigmenty nabrały swoich właściwych kolorów przykleiłem przygotowane prędzej czaszki i broń do podstawki. Teraz, żeby jeszcze bardziej postarzeć podstawkę i uzyskać klimat starych podziemi stworzyłem pajęczyny zgodnie ze sposobem chłopaków z Massive Voodoo: Creating realistic Spider Webs.

And here is what effect I was able to get. Pay attention to cobwebs covered the real dust that sooner glued to the base. In my opinion, now it looks much better.

W moim odczuciu teraz wygląda to dużo lepiej.

The Usurper
Using real dust on the base was quick idea. Yet I considered it some other crazy options :) You can find your own use dust, which is in arrears in the recesses of your homes. Enjoy dirty.

Have fun painting,
