Wiem, że w Internecie (w szczególności na YouTube) znajdziecie ogromną ilość recenzji farb SpeedPaint 2.0 od Army Painter. Wygląda na to, że firma Army Painter zadbała o to by tych informacji było w sieci bardzo dużo :) Postanowiłem jednak podzielić się z Wami moim doświadczeniem i wrażeniem z użytkowania tych farb. Powiem szczerze, że bardzo się tego obawiałem, a z drugiej strony byłem ciekaw jak one działają. Miałem już doświadczenie z farbami Games Workshop Contrasts i wyciągnąłem pewne wnioski. Jednak moje osobiste przyzwyczajenia do tego aby mieć zawsze perfekcyjnie pomalowane modele utrudniały mi trochę zrozumienie istoty istnienia farb tego typu. Another plus to start with and a good impression.

This is a good quality brush. It will do its job on larger models. Personally, when working with Speedpaint paints, a smaller brush with shorter bristles worked better for me, but this is a personal preference.

Army Painter does not hide the fact that the so-called delamination, i.e. separation of the pigment from the medium. This is a natural process in acrylic paints. Sometimes it happens faster, sometimes slower. Therefore, it clearly advises to mix the paint well before using it. And that's why he added these 2 balls for us :)
Army Painter nie ukrywa, że może dojść do tzw. rozwarstwienia czyli oddzielenia sie pigmentu od medium. Jest to naturalny proces w farbach akrylowych. Czasem zachodzi szybciej, a czasem wolniej. Dlatego też wyraźnie informuje aby przed użyciem farby dobrze wymieszać. I w tym celu właśnie dorzucił nam te 2 kulki :)

MIXING COLORS

As Speedpaint paints are delivered in dropper bottles (unlike GW Contrasts), we have to pour a little of them onto the palette while painting. Initially, I was quite skeptical about this after working with GW Contrast paints. However, I must admit that it is just as convenient as when working with regular paints. We can dispense literally drops of paint without the risk of it drying out in the bottle. One important note, do not use a wet palette for this type of paint! A standard dry palette works perfectly here. These paints can be mixed to obtain other colors.
Jako, że farby Speedpaint są dostarczane w butelkach z zakraplaczem (inaczej niż GW Contrasts) w czasie malowania musimy wylać ich odrobinę na paletę. Początkowo byłem do tego dość sceptycznie nastawiony po pracy z farbami GW Contrast. Muszę jednak przyznać, że jest to tak samo bardzo wygodne jak przy pracy ze zwykłymi farbami. Możemy dozować dosłownie krople farby nie ryzykując jej wysychaniem w butelce. Jedna ważna uwaga, nie używajcie mokrej palety do tego typu farb! Idealnie sprawdza się tutaj standardowa sucha paleta. Farby te można mieszać między sobą uzyskując inne kolory.

Now the most important thing - tests. For over a month I have been painting 32mm scale figures (exceptional for me) for the game Hero Quest. I painted them in combination with GW Contrast and standard techniques and paints. You can find the results of this work here:

I already have 2 more expansions for Hero Quest game in the queue to paint. They contain figures identical to those in the basic set. So I decided they would be an ideal candidate for testing and comparison. I used the same Zenithal Priming on all figures - black primer from the bottom and mostly white from the top.
W kolejce do malowania mam już 2 kolejne dodatki do gry Hero Quest. Zawierają one identyczne figurki jak w podstawowym zestawie. Uznałem więc, że będą idealnym kandydatem do testów i porównania. Na wszystkich figurkach zastosowałem tak samo Zenithal Priming - czarny podkład od dołu i w większości biały od góry.

First test, base color, Forest Sprite as orc skin. The paint is applied quickly and covers well. One pass is enough. Apply a lot of paint from top to bottom so that the excess paint creates shadows in the recesses. First impression very good. It's a bit different than with GW Contrast - better, faster and easier, that's my impression.
Pierwszy test, bazowy kolor, Forest Sprite jako skóra orka. Farbę nakłada się szybko, dobrze kryje. Wystarczy jedno przejście. Farby należy nakładać dużo od góry do dołu, tak by jej nadmiary utworzyły cienie w zagłębieniach. Pierwsze wrażenie bardzo dobre. Jest trochę inaczej niż z GW Contrast - lepiej, szybciej i łatwiej, takie mam wrażenie.

The next color is Beowulf Blue. The experience is identical, quick and easy. Shadows create themselves. I've noticed that a small 3/0 brush with short bristles works better for me. Provides better control over this very diluted paint.
Kolejny kolor to Beowulf Blue. Wrażenia identyczne, szybko i łatwo. Cienie tworzą się same. Zauważyłem, że lepiej sprawdza mi się mały pędzel 3/0 z krótkim włosiem. Zapewnia lepszą kontrolę nad tą bardzo rozcieńczoną farbą.

Now test metallic colors. Below you can see a comparison between the classic Vallejo paint and Speedpaint 2.0. A slight difference in color but it doesn't matter. The metallic color is applied in the same way as the other base colors. They create a nice effect even on a white background, although initially it seems that they do not cover the surface perfectly. It is noticeable that the metallic did not create as large shadows as the base colors. So I don't see any big benefit from Speddpaint metallic paints, but they work.

Kolor metaliczny nakłada się identycznie jak pozostałe bazowe kolory. Nawet na białym podkładzie tworzą ładny efekt chociaż początkowo wydaje się, że nie kryją powierzchni idealnie. Zauważalne jest, iż metalic nie stworzył tak dużych cieni jak bazowe kolory. Nie dostrzegam więc tutaj jakiegoś dużego benefitu z metalicznych farb Speddpaint ale działają.

Another smaller figure painted in literally a few minutes only with Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0. Judge for yourself what the effect is. For a player who has a horde of sample goblins, this may be a sufficient level. We have base colors, strongly visible shadows and less visible highlights. However, remember that I used a black primer combined with white. Only a strong white primer would cause much greater highlights. Everything achieved in express time!
Kolejna mniejsza figurka pomalowane w dosłownie kilka minut tylko farbami Army Painter Speedpaint 2.0. Jaki jest efekt oceńcie sami. Dla gracza posiadającego horde przykładowych goblinów to może już być wystarczający poziom. Mamy bazowe kolory, mocno widoczne cienie i mniej widoczne rozjaśnienia. Pamiętajcie jednak, że zastosowałem czarny podkład w połączeniu z białym. Tylko mocny biały podkład spowodował by znacznie większe rozjaśnienia. Wszystko osiągnięte w expresowym czasie!

DO WE NEED SOMETHING MORE?

Basically, we could end this review and testing at this stage. The paints do their job. We will quickly paint the figure, obtaining shading and highlights. Personally, however, I miss even greater CONTRAST. If we want, we can achieve this by adding washes in several places, mainly on large metallic surfaces. We can also highlight surfaces. First of all, we can higlight the edges. But can this be done without damaging the thin base layer of Speedpaint 2.0 paints? The answer is yes. See below what the same figures look like with a light, very simple, not very precise and quick upgrade.
W zasadzie na tym etapie mogli byśmy już zakończyć tą recenzję i testy. Farby spełniają swoje zadanie. Szybko pomalujemy figurkę uzyskując cieniowanie i rozjaśnienia. Osobiście jednak brakuje mi tu jeszcze większego KONTRASTU. Jeśli chcemy możemy to osiągnąć dodając washe w kilku miejscach, głównie na dużych powierzchniach metalicznych. Możemy również rozjaśnić powierzchnie. Przede wszystkim możemy jednak rozjaśnić krawędzie. Ale czy da się to zrobić bez uszkodzenia cienkiej, bazowej warstwy farb Speedpaint 2.0? Odpowiedź brzmi tak. Zobaczcie poniżej jak wyglądają te same figurki z lekkim, bardzo prostym, mało dokładnym i szybkim upgradem.
Of course, I realizes that this requires additional work time. This is probably not the idea of Speedpaint paints. However, they leave us the opportunity to do so without making it more difficult.
Oczywiście zdaje sobie sprawę, że wymaga to dodatkowego czasu pracy. Nie taka zapewne jest idea farb typu Speedpaint. Pozostawiają nam one jednak taką możliwość, nie utrudniając tego.
VARNISH

Figures painted with Speedpaint 2.0 can be protected with varnish. On the above example models, I used matte and glossy Vallejo varnish. The varnish was applied with a brush.
Figurki pomalowane farbami Speedpaint 2.0 mogą być zabezpieczone lakierem. Na powyższych, przykładowych modelach użyłem matowego i błyszczącego lakieru Vallejo. Lakier był nakładany pędzlem.
AIRBRUSH

Can these paints be used with an airbrush? Definitely yes and it gives very good results. I have been using washes applied with an airbrush for many years. This allows you to obtain very delicate color transitions. I have mentioned this in many of my tutorials, especially when painting larger models such as busts. The test below shows additional shadows and midtones on the skin made with an airbrush and Speedpaint 2.0 paints.
Czy tych farb można używać z aerografem? Zdecydowanie tak i daje to bardzo dobre efekty. Od wielu lat używam Washy nakładanych z aerografu. Pozwala to uzyskiwać bardzo delikatne przejścia kolorów. Wspominałem o tym w wielu moich poradnikach, szczególnie przy malowaniu większych modeli jak popiersia. Test poniżej pokazuje dodatkowe cienie i midtony na skórze wykonane aerografem i farbami Speedpaint 2.0.

Army Painter Contrast 2.0 paints are definitely worth your attention. They are a great solution, especially for gamers. As the manufacturer's slogan says, they will allow you to use "more time for playing than for painting." In my opinion, they are the perfect complement to the basic acrylic paints you already have. They make it possible to significantly speed up the process of painting gaming figures. For painters going to competitions, they also allow for new options when using an airbrush. The Army Painter Speedpaint Most Wanted Set 2.0 is also a great solution for beginner hobbyists. It's really worth trying these paints and testing new possibilities.
Farby Army Painter Contrast 2.0 zdecydowanie są godne waszej uwagi. Są świetnym rozwiązaniem szczególnie dla graczy. Tak jak reklamuje hasło producenta umożliwią Ci one wykorzystanie "więcej czasu do grania niż do malowania". Moim zdaniem są idealnym uzupełnieniem podstawowych farb akrylowych, które już posiadacie. Dają możliwość znaczącego przyśpieszenia procesu malowania figurek do grania. Dla malarzy jeżdżących na konkursy też pozwalają na nowe opcje przy użyciu aerografu. Zestaw Army Painter Speedpaint Most Wanted Set 2.0 jest również świetnym rozwiązaniem dla początkujących hobbystów. Naprawdę warto spróbować tych farb i potestować nowe możliwości.
