How to paint gold in simple way?

In December 2014 I've painted one of my first bust - Tyrion Lannister. During this project, I did a lot of photos. From those photos was created my guide on How to paint face using airbrush? Now, found on hard drive several other pictures from that project. I decided to make a tutorial for beginners on how to paint gold elements.

W Grudniu 2014 pomalowałem jedno z moich pierwszych popiersi - Tyrion Lannister. W czasie tego projektu zrobiłem sporo zdjęć. Powstał wówczas mój poradnik How to paint face using airbrush?

Please remember that all of this I give you for free. It would be so nice if you leave a mark in the form of comment and share this article to your friends. If you want to buy me a coffee or a beer the "DONATE" button is below.

1. As an example, we'll use a brooch at the bust. As a primer I used black color.

2. As the base color I used Vallejo 70878 Old Gold. This is one of my favorite shades of gold.
Jako kolor bazowy zastosowałem Vallejo Old Gold 70.878. To jeden z moich ulubionych odcieni złotego koloru.

3. The first shadow is a Citadel Seraphim Sepia wash.
Pierwszy cień to wash Citadel Seraphim Sepia.

As further shadows can be used a little darker shades like Vallejo Smokey Ink 72068 or Citadel Devlan Mud.

4. The last shadow is a Citadel Nuln Oil (black color) wash. Decide whether it is necessary for the model that you paint or not.
Ostatni cień to Citadel Nuln Oil (czarny kolor).

5. As midtone in the shadows I used Citadel Asurmen Blue wash. It revived whole a little  and escaped from the monotony of brown shades. I don't know whether you notice it in the picture ...

Jako midtone w cieniach zastosowałem wash Citadel Asurmen Blue. Ożywiło to trochę całość i wyrwało z monotonii brązowych odcieni.

6. Now it's time to lightening. As the first I used Vallejo Gold 70.996.
Teraz czas na rozjaśnienia. Jako pierwszy użyłem kolor Vallejo Gold 70.996. Pomalowałem wystające elementy.

7. In the last step, I use silver shades for lightenings.
W ostatnim kroku użyłem srebrnych odcieni do rozjaśnienia.

In the picture below you will notice that the Citadel Mithril Silver (left) is lighter than Vallejo 70997 Silver (right). You decide which shade is right for your project.

I hope this simple guide will be especially useful for beginners.

Have fun painting,
